A Badass Legacy

It’s Women’s History Month!

In honor of Women’s History Month, I’m sending all kinds of crazy love and most sincere gratitude towards my Grandmother.

We all have at least one individual partly responsible for helping us reach our full potential and if you know anything at all about me, you must know that my Grandmother (may she RIP) is a HUGE influence and foundation for all of the Badass material found here on this blog, my podcast and all of the Badass(ness) found inside of me. She lived one century plus two years and was a pillar of the community where she lived. She wore many hats during her lifetime and wore them all extremely well with style, wisdom and grace. I am working on several projects in her honor and in continuation of her Badass legacy. In partnership with my church, we are starting a youth book club for school age children. See flyer below. The book club’s first meeting is this Sunday, March 18th (my oldest birthday!!) and will continue every third Sunday going forward.

I believe that my Grandmother would be absolutely proud of this endeavor and I am elated to get the children’s book club going with the help and blessing of my church. Reading has always been a sincere passion of mine, one that I’m delighted to share with children of the church and community. During the meeting, children will read, share, craft and snack together. Hopefully, all having a grand time. Especially, in light of the recent and much- needed National School WalkOut as a show of solidarity against gun violence in schools. It is my prayer that the book club could bring children together on a happier and much lighter note.

Serving others feels good. It allows us to place ourselves second fiddle for the needs of others, at least for few hours and especailly in celebration of Women’s History Month. Is there anyone that comes to mind who has played an instrumental role for where you are today? I celebrate that person with you on today and for all of this month. For me, I’m ever grateful to continue the legacy of my Grandmother through serving the children of our community just as she did for me growing up as a young lady and for many other children over the course of several decades. Just golden. Grandmother, THANK YOU for being such an inspiration and a solid foundation for me to keep your legacy alive. Salute.

****My household experienced a certain rocky start to the week due to a nasty seasonal virus which is apparently going around these days. Firstly, it got a hold of the teenager, then me. Thankfully, our health has stabililzed, but not so much, for my already precarious schedule. Therefore, there will be no Episode 30 of the Grateful Badass Podcast for this week. All of my ranting and ravings of gratitude will be saved and will resume on next Friday. Plus, I’ll have a new guest just for you. It’ll be worth the wait. Someone doing magical, Badass things as similar to my last guest, Heatlhy Vegan, “Student of the Elders”, Daphne Scott where you can catch that episode by clicking here.****
