GB31: Honesty…. is Underrated!

GB 26~ Honesty… is Underrated!

Happy Friday! Certainly, a Good Friday it is.

Today, I am riding solo as the last three episodes have been with a few Badass guests. Take a moment to check Episodes 28 (First Born Love), 29 (Daphne Scott, MAE Foundation) and 30 (Archie Clay, III, Co-Founder of BRIMS) by clicking on the numbered link.

The inspiration for the podcast for this week presented itself to me in the form of a fellow church member who recently shared with me that she had seen my daughter and I on the subway and wanted to say Hello but wasn’t having a good day and really didn’t feel like it. Now, I must tell you that I immediately wanted to give her a BIG HUG! Not because I thought there was anything wrong with her or her admission but, for her pure honesty in sharing her truth with me.

Right then my idea for this week’s podcast was born. Why? Because in the mist of our society and culture nowadays regular ole’, sincere ole’ honesty is a lost art form. A lost moral and value. In our climate of “Fake News”. Honesty has all but left this planet. Honesty is on its last leg.

With that, we should probably check in with our honesty barometer and, if necessary, get back to reclaiming our truth.

Three points and reminders made during the podcast:

  • Honesty = Honor and Integrity
  • Honesty = Personal Morals and Values
  • Honesty= Our Legacy

My church member was having a bad day. We ALL have them. I’ve had them and when I’ve run into friends or church members on those days, let’s just say I’m ashamed of how fast I may have ducked and hoped that they just didn’t see me. And, tell the person about it later? Well….. I will do better.

Take a listen and as always, let me know your honest thoughts on honesty in the comment section below and on social media. Links to social media can be found here: Twitter, the Facebook Page and Instagram @GratefulBadass and @GratefulBadassPodcast found on Instagram also.

For this week, here’s the…

Grateful Badass Call to Action– Forget what people will think or say, let’s all try to be more honest with ourselves and with others. I’m placing the most sincerest form of honesty at the very top of my Badass Bucket list for this year and years to come. I will seek to be more consistent with my word.

What Grateful Badass is Reading– Currently, reading An American Marriage by Tayari Jones and What Successful People Think by John C. Maxwell. Let me know what you are reading and if you have a book suggestion for me.

Until next time. Word is Bond.
