GB 34: Ambitious Women~ Goals, Aspirations and Backlash!
Ambitious Women. We all know them. We aspire to be them . We love them. We hate them. We often give them the proverbial side-eye. You may be a member of the A-Team. Your woman may be a member of the A-Team Sisterhood.
Ambitious Women. They’re everywhere. Making moves.
I was inspired to speak on the subject of ambitious women by another podcast called Dear Sugars where Hilary Clinton was a guest. Clinton spoke about her new book, What Happened which covers her loss of the presidential campaign, her life as a successful woman and her inherent ambitious and goal- oriented nature.
I proudly place myself in the category of ambitious women. Unapologetically, that is. As a member of the A-Team, Clinton’s sentiments stuck with me. Her all too familiar experiences left me pondering, observing, watching and thinking on the matter of ambitious women.
Must the journey be such a lonely, uphill battle?
Join me as I speak on the topic of ambitious women. Basically, the good, the bad and the ugly. From personal experience and from looking to other members of this sisterhood what I know for sure, is this…
Ambitious women are often:
- Victimized (Think- Gender Gap)
- Negatively Labeled (Think of the “B” words)
- Cornered to choose career or family (Corner office or Corner Crib? Think Cardi B)
- Must BRING a seat to the table
“If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” ~ Shirley Chisholm
These topics and more are discussed during this episode. But wait. I don’t leave my ambitious sisters empty-handed. I provide my own recommended gameplan for ambitious women and the men who love and support them.
