Progress Over Perfection

I love to write for this blog and create for the podcast. I do all of this along with my “day job” which MUST mean that I enjoy it. No one in their right mind would freely sign on for much work without the drive of passion and purpose. It often seems that a blog post or podcast episode takes many hours of creating, writing and editing. From there, I must then share what I’ve created with several social media platforms. All of which takes time and effort. Especially, if a good impression is sought after. I’m near perfectionist with nearly everything that I do, which means, many times I have to settle for “Progress Over Perfection” in order to move forward.

Progress over perfection.

This short message is written on a sticky note on my desk where I can clearly see it daily and be reminded of the process.

When I started the podcast, I didn’t exactly know what I was doing. My youngest was off at summer camp for three weeks and since she’s way more tech savvy than I, I knew that she could assist me. But, I didn’t want to wait for her return. It was start or forever languish. I decided to start and publish my ill-sounding voice and rocky message and figure the rest out later. I did just that. Start and figure the rest later. And guess what? It’s working out fine.

Progress over perfection.

Creating, designing and delivering your artistry will take work. Hard work and more hard work. The good news is when giving from the heart, the progress will be worth the process, and that’s perfection achieved.
