A Night at the Opera: Porgy and Bess
It was a wonderful and fascinating night out.
The Birthday girl, JSparkle and I took in the beloved story of Porgy and Bess at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center Plaza. An amazing cast of black and brown people presented a show which opened September 23rd and will run through February 1st, 2020. But, we were anxious to attend and had to see the show as soon as possible.
The theatre in and of itself is majestic. The set was unbelievably elaborate providing a platform for greatness to occur. The cast of, I believe, over one hundred talented professionals presented mind- blowing vocals and acting of an unknown measure. And then, the actors which portrayed Porgy and Bess pulled you in. Leaving you intrigued to see what would happen next. Many loud and passionate “BRAVOs” would leap from the crowd over the course of the night ending with cheers and an overwhelming, well- deserved standing ovation.
If in New York, as a connoisseur of the Arts, I’d simply say, go see it.
